Threats and opportunities during this economic downturn workshop Two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth comprises the classic definition of recession. Exacerbated by the so called 'credit crunch' and creeping inflation, the economic downturn is now demonstrably starting to bite and most commentators agree is unlikely to be of less than 2 years duration. The impact on consumer spending, corporate and institutional investment and of course employment is predictable. However, as in any period of instability or change, there are both threats and opportunities.
